I'm Aurora Kalos — I paint what cannot be said in words

I am an artist originally from Odesa, Ukraine, currently living and working in Germany.

My practice revolves around the creation of ambiguous, otherworldly beings that exist somewhere between reality and the subconscious. Rather than functioning as fixed characters, these figures act as emotional vessels — quiet presences that embody vulnerability, introspection, and states that resist clear definition.

I am primarily interested in atmosphere and emotional resonance. Instead of constructing explicit narratives, I aim to capture suspended moments: scenes that feel still, intimate, and slightly detached from time. The figures in my work often appear immersed in dreamlike environments, suggesting inner worlds shaped by memory, solitude, and contemplation.

A soft, pastel palette and smooth, luminous surfaces play ensure a sense of visual gentleness, while subtle distortions and surreal elements introduce an underlying tension. This contrast allows tenderness and unease to coexist, creating spaces that feel both inviting and distant.

Through these imagined beings and quiet settings, my work explores themes of emotional isolation, self-reflection, and the fragile balance between sensitivity and strength. I am drawn to moments where vulnerability becomes a form of presence rather than weakness, and where silence carries as much meaning as action.
